Features in detail

User-friendly controls

The unit can be controlled locally with the large user-friendly touch screen display, or controlled remotely via WiFi using the Smart Life app.

Natural R290 refrigerant

R290 is a naturally occurring refrigerant which is found in everyday household appliances such as domestic fridge/freezers and portable air conditioners. It has an incredibly low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 3, and an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of zero, which maintains better working parameters with heat pumps.

Higher COP

During water heating, the Juniper HP Plus can automatically calculate and analyse its current operating conditions, then adjust the power input to achieve an optimal COP. Under the standard test condition of EN16147, the water heater can achieve a COP of up to 4.09.

SAP Appendix Q

The Juniper HP Plus is listed in SAP Appendix Q, signifying its significant contribution to renewables within the SAP framework.

Removable split top

Each heat pump water heater is designed with a removable split top, making servicing and maintenance more convenient.
This feature allows easy internal access without the need to remove the ducting, reducing downtime and simplifying installation in tight spaces.

Left & Right Hand Models

While the Juniper HP Plus heat pump water heater is well-suited for stand-alone domestic properties equipped with an airing/cylinder cupboard, its design is particularly tailored for application in apartments and houses with both left and right-hand variants. The inclusion of handed front/side-mounted water connections facilitates straightforward integration with pipework affixed to an adjacent wall, ensuring symmetry in pipework installation across all properties. This feature is especially advantageous for suppliers of Prefabricated Utility Cupboards (PUCs), streamlining pipework manufacturing processes and delivering a more pleasing solution overall.

What Are Heat Pump Water Heaters?

Heat pump water heaters are the energy-efficient solution for modern domestic hot water production, delivering exceptional cost savings and environmental benefits for apartments, new builds, and commercial properties.

Significant energy and cost savings

Heat pump water heaters are significantly more cost-effective than traditional electric water heaters. Electric resistance heaters operate at 100% efficiency, converting one unit of electricity into one unit of heat. In contrast, the Juniper HP Plus achieves a COP of up to 4.09 and an A++ energy efficiency rating, producing over four times more heat energy than the electricity it consumes. This means approximately 75% less electricity is required to produce the same amount of hot water compared to conventional electric immersion heaters. The system operates most efficiently when extracting waste heat from occupied spaces or temperate air, making it particularly effective in commercial buildings, apartment blocks, and properties with good ventilation. With natural R290 refrigerant that has a Global Warming Potential of just 3 and zero Ozone Depletion Potential, the Juniper HP Plus delivers both cost savings and environmental benefits.

Ideal for apartments and new build properties

Heat pump water heaters are ideal for apartments, multi-dwelling buildings, and new build properties, especially those designed without gas infrastructure. The Juniper HP Plus is specifically designed for these applications, available in 200L and 300L capacities to suit different property sizes. Its compact design allows installation in standard cupboard spaces, and the exhaust air functionality can extract waste heat from within the building. The system requires ducting to outside air but doesn't need a gas supply, making it perfect for all-electric developments. When paired with electric radiators or underfloor heating, it offers an efficient and cost-effective alternative to traditional heat network solutions. The Juniper HP Plus is listed in SAP Appendix Q, ensuring compliance with building regulations for new constructions. Available in left and right-hand variants, it provides flexible installation options for prefabricated utility cupboards and apartment risers, with handed front and side-mounted water connections to streamline pipework installation.

Future-proof and environmentally sustainable

Heat pump water heaters align with the UK's transition away from fossil fuels and support compliance with building regulations including the Future Homes Standard. The Juniper HP Plus uses natural R290 refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 3 and zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP), making it one of the most environmentally friendly water heating solutions available. Unlike gas boilers or systems using synthetic refrigerants with high GWP values, heat pump water heaters offer a truly sustainable approach to domestic hot water production. The technology is proven, reliable, and widely adopted across Europe, with the Juniper HP Plus manufactured to exacting standards with a focus on longevity and performance. With no combustion, no flue requirements, and no gas safety concerns, heat pump water heaters reduce maintenance demands and eliminate carbon monoxide risks, providing peace of mind for building managers and residents alike.

Compatible with renewable energy systems

Heat pump water heaters work excellently with renewable energy sources, particularly solar PV systems. The Juniper HP Plus is PV-ready, meaning it can be configured to operate primarily when solar electricity is being generated, maximising the use of free renewable energy and further reducing both energy costs and carbon emissions. This combination is particularly effective as the heat pump's electrical demand coincides well with daytime solar generation when hot water is typically being used. With WiFi connectivity via the Smart Life app, users can schedule operation to optimise renewable energy usage, monitor performance remotely, and adjust settings for maximum efficiency. The Juniper HP Plus also features Modbus connectivity for integration with building management systems, making it suitable for smart buildings and energy management strategies in commercial developments. This connectivity enables demand-side response strategies, allowing the system to operate when grid electricity is cheapest or greenest, further enhancing both economic and environmental performance.
