Modutherm are proud to announce that they are supplying their AW90 Monobloc air source heat pump for the exciting expansion project at the prestigious Belfry Hotel & Resort. The AW90 Monobloc heat pump was selected due to its intelligent controls and impressive efficiency. This project highlights how the AW90 Monobloc range can tackle the complex heating, cooling, and hot water needs of large commercial spaces.
The Belfry Hotel & Resort is currently undergoing an impressive £80 million expansion, which includes the development of a state-of-the-art swimming pool complex. This project reflects a strong commitment to sustainability, with the aim of achieving a BREEAM Excellence rating.
One of the challenges faced during the project was the limited space available for installation and to meet the heating and cooling demands of the new swimming pool complex. To address this issue Modutherm selected six AW90 Monobloc air source heat pumps, complemented by two 3000 litre buffer vessels.
The AW90 Monobloc unit boasts an impressive heating capacity range of 90kW and can be connected in a cascade configuration of up to 16 units. This flexibility ensures that the system can adapt to the varying demands of the swimming pool. It utilises the advanced Nordflex+ controller, specifically designed to optimise energy usage when electricity demand and costs are low, and uses stored energy when needed.
The AW90 Monobloc offers unique and significant advantages for theBelfry expansion, particularly in terms of energy efficiency. By incorporating the latest inverter and enhanced vapour injection (EVI) technology, the AW90 Monobloc provides a highly efficient heating solution, achieving an impressive A++ energy rating and a COP of up to 4.5.
Designed for stable and reliable performance across a wide temperature range of -25°C to 45°C, the AW90 Monobloc effectively meets heating demands in diverse environmental conditions, making it an ideal choice for theBelfry expansion.
Modutherm collaborated closely with Calumet, the Mechanical Installer, who appointed Shire Group as the Consultant for the project. The Shire Group delivered detailed design of this project with Modutherm assisting every step of the way. Brett Stokes Modutherm’s Specification Area Sales Manager stated:
